lorensbergs conducts self-service survey
With self-service becoming ever more important for UK public and academic libraries, we conducted a survey throughout February and March to discover the trends and opinions of libraries across the UK on the topic of self-service.
With everything from self-issue and 24/7 access, to security issues and popular processes, the survey represents both public and academic libraries and provides a snapshot of the current library environment, revealing the extent to which RFID and self-service technology is impacting on library services.
The survey addresses six key areas: RFID, kiosks, 24/7 access, trends in other online services, virtual learning resources and how libraries rate the relative importance of key national indicators. It provides interesting comparatives between the two library sectors and demonstrates how libraries are embracing technological change in their modernisation programmes.
